Entry MUST be a full-length play ---a minimum of 75 minute running time. Musicals and children’s play WILL NOT be accepted.

The entry must be an original work and cannot have been published or produced where admission was charged prior to July of 2008. Staged readings and/or workshop production would not be disqualifying factors.

Adaptations must be accompanied with written permission from all parties.

There is no restriction of subject, style, treatment, etc.

More than one entry may be submitted. There is no limit to the number of submissions

Playwright must submit one typewritten BINDER BOUND no brads, staples or clips (unbound scripts will be destroyed) copy of the script with a title page containing:

Character list/descriptions and synopsis must also be included.

Playwright must include a resume.

Scripts are not returnable. Dayton Playhouse will properly dispose of all scripts not selected for the Festival.

Playwrights will not receive feedback on their scripts from our staff or reading committees.

Entering into the festival, the playwright gives Dayton Playhouse permission to photocopy scripts for reading/production purposes.

Six finalists will be notified by May of 2008. Finalists will also be posted on the Dayton Playhouse website www.daytonplayhouse.org

Finalists must attend the festival and participate in all events in order to have script produced.

The winning playwright must recognize the Dayton Playhouse if/when the script is published.

The winning playwright awards the Dayton Playhouse the option to produce the winning play on its main stage in Dayton, OH at no cost.

DO NOT send entries via USPS if you request a signed confirmation. Entries sent via USPS should include a self addressed stamped postcard if delivery confirmation is needed. Dayton Playhouse will only provide signed confirmation via UPS, Federal Express, or Airborne.
